    Genetic Counseling for Cancer

Genetic Counseling refers to research and subsequent treatments for cancer based on an understanding of how genes (or your genetic makeup) influence the presence or growth of cancer in your body.

To learn more about the way genetic counseling is being used in the treatment of cancer, visit the Talking Glossary of Genetic Terms External Site offered through the National Human Genome Research Institute. This guide will help you understand terms and concepts used in genetics research.

The Genetic Counseling Program at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center is currently under development and we look forward to updating this webpage as the information becomes available.
